Cub Scout day camp is a 3 day adventure packed experience without overnight camping!

The three days are packed with activities, and I promise Your Scout will come home exhausted every night!

The theme for 2015 is In Flight!

On the first day the boys will meet at the camp and be organized into groups by their age.  There is usually at least two groups of each rank because they try to keep it to no more than 10 boys in a Den and all of the boys in our District are invited to this Day Camp.  Your Scout will most likely be grouped with Pack 10 boys and boys from all of the other schools in the area.

Each day begins with a flag ceremony and then they are lead around by 2 Den Walkers (adults from our Pack and other Packs) to different stations which each last 1 hour.  There are 3 stations, then lunch (they all bring their own sack lunch each day), then three more stations each day.  At the end of the day there is a closing flag ceremony, and on the last day there is usually a final hamburger/hotdog BBQ.

The activities at each station are led by more adult volunteers from our Pack and others from around Reno/Sparks.  The big ones are of course the BB guns, Archery, Model Rocketry and Swimming, but all of them are fun and educational.  Last year we built tool boxes, created leather projects, made bird houses, catapults, marshmallow guns, and other craft projects which the boys brought home with them each night.  They also played different team games and sports and had a chance to learn about maps, science, and the flag.  The boys will get a complete schedule on the first morning for all 3 days.  Swimming will not be offered at day camp this year.

Almost all of the activities are outside, so sunscreen and a water bottle (water is provided at each station) is crucial.

I'm not sure where we are at with volunteers so far, but I can tell you that if you have a chance to volunteer for this event, you will be glad you did!  I just signed up for the first day in 2012, but after watching the boys experience so many things for the first time I haven't missed a day in 3 years!

Please return the signup form and the health forms along with your fee to register for camp.
